Kiira Motors Corporation has developed an open design low-cost ventilator in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The domestic development of a lowcost emergency ventilator provides an affordable and more accessible alternative.
Designed for use in high dependency units and for emergency rooms/transport in ambulances for adults and pediatric patients not less than 5kg.
Intuitive user interface displaying set parameters, measured values and waveforms for pressure, volume and flow as well as system alarms to alert users of failures.
The alarm system warns the user and allows for risk mitigation with the following alarms; Patient APNE, Power Failure, Low/High Pressure.
The ventilator has a backup battery activated automatically that can be used for up to 8 hours under normal cycling conditions and charged with a solar backup power system.
The ventilator is made from locally sourced materials available on the Ugandan market and this has allowed for its affordability.
